Campbell-Stokes Sunshine Recorder

Campbell-Stokes Sunshine Recorder

My Third post is going to be on the Sunshine Recorder. In terms of how it looks I would say that this is probably my favourite piece of geographical equipment. What the Sunshine Recorder does is record the amount of sunshine in a certain area, and the results you get from this can tell you the climate and the weather in the given area as well.

The Sunshine Recorder is used in many different areas such as, Meteorology, Science, Agriculture and Tourism.
There are two types of sunshine recorders, the first on is used to look at the amount of sun I a particular area, and the second one uses the sun to tell the time (which I would say is cooler than using a clock.)
The older sunshine recorders had to have the results read by a person, however the newer ones have their data stored on computers that can be read a lot more precisely than if you tried to read the date yourself

Stevenson Screen

Hello again, this is going to be my second official post and the first post about the topic that this blog is going to be about. that is Technology that is used in geography.
Stephenson screen
The Stephenson screen is like a box that contains meteorological equipment and protects them from direct heat and radiation from outside, it does have slits on the sides so air can pass through and around it inside.
The Stephenson screen isn't a piece of geographical equipment itself however it does contain meteorological equipment such as a thermometer, a hygrometer, a dewcell, a barometer and a thermograph. The purpose of the Stephenson screen is to provide a dry environment in which you can measure things such as the temperature, humidity, dewpoint and atmospheric pressure.
